PPMGA faced the complications of an airport (General Aviation) remaining operational whilst project managing the design and construction of a new shared facility to house the Victoria Police Air Wing and Air Ambulance Victoria. Challenges included construction airside in an operational airport environment and delivery within the probity, tendering and contractual requirements of two separate State Government Tenants
Solutions
Initial project success came as PPMGA provided assistance in programming and cost planning which was used to assist Vic Pol and Air Ambulance Victoria in obtaining necessary funding approval to commence and complete the project. The project itself was unique combining aircraft hangar and aircraft maintenance facilities together with separate control rooms for each of VicPol and Air Ambulance, police station, hospital, staff accommodation and security requirements all being combined into one bespoke building.
Results
The project was built as a shared facility but funded by separate Governmental Departments and was delivered to a high standard, within budget and program.
